From one night of passion… The Flying Banzini is born

Well… not really. It wasn’t one night of passion. It was actually an inability to find a position as a radio host. Too bad. I love radio. Like most things, done well it’s a little bit of magic. I would have liked the chance to share the passin of life’ grand adventure on the radio in Ottawa but it’s not to be…

Two years ago I started to consider opening a Franchise.

Eighteen months ago I decided I was going to become a restaurateur. With a lack of experience I determined that I would find a franchise I was interested in.

Fifteen months ago I decided that I would not be happy being a franchise. I would not be happy peddling someone else’s vision. And, ever since, my brain space have been constantly occupied by The Flying Banzini.

This is good. I am happiest when I have an obsession. I am happiest when I have three things in balance – family, work, and a passion. Now, for the first time, work and passion are married to one another.

Everything you see in The Flying Banzini was on paper fifteen months ago. Many things have been refined by advice from people smarter than me. Many things have been refined after much time in my brain. But, basically, what you see it what was hatched fifteen months ago.

The biggest change was that I dropped gelato and added cheesecake. Specifically, I added Raelene Harder’s petite cheesecakes. Likely the smartest thing I did. Raelene (with her new assistant Leena) are creating miniature works of food art. The cheesecake is absolutely beautiful to behold.

There are lots of things that will stimulate and titillate in The Flying Banzini – video installations, photographs, speaking tubes, name cards, cheesecake coins, placemats, and more. But, the cheesecake cooler will be among the most breathtaking.

Learn, laugh, love, cry, smile, and dream. Care deeply. Don’t hate. Mostly, though, laugh. Share the passion of life’ grand adventure.
