It’s starting to come together

Yesterday we served 40 and lunch and 100 at supper. Lunch was a little rough, this was mostly because our Point-Of-Sale system was a problem. I was very worried that opening Saturday was not too feasible.

But then some hard work through the afternoon and supper went off, nearly without a hitch. We served close to 100 meals and everything went very, very well. I would not be happier. The meals looked and, I think, tasted great. I finished the evening with a “Flames of Love” which was fantastic. I was eating it thinking to myself, this a great, I would eat at this restaurant and that I thought… wait a second this is MY restaurant. Could not have been happier.

One glitch yesterday. I was supposed to file my fire plans by the end of the day on Tuesday. I assured the Fire Department that I would. When I got home I got distracted and overly tired I didn’t do it. And that I totally forgot about it Wednesday. I sorted it out on Thursday as soon as the problem was brought to my attention but all of this means that I have one outstanding document to clear the liquor license. I expect that I will get that today. If I don’t, however, it’s my fault and we might be without a liquor license for the weekend.

I did clear the final hurdle for the patio yesterday and it’s now out front. Thanks to the community and my neighbors for being very, very reasonable. It is only six seats and we close at 10 PM. I do not want to cause any problem for anybody. I hope The Flying Banzini develops into a cherished cornerstone of the community and not a source of irritation. I will work hard to make that happen.

Dave - just to let you know, the liquor license shouldn’t stop people going to our new community cornerstone. The food can certainly stand on its own.

Still thinking about Zooma, Zooma. Getting a Pavlovian reaction EVERY TIME!

BTW - was thinking about today’s song of the day and your policy to switch one out, switch one in. In one of your future blogs, would you be willing to discuss the criteria of inclusion and removal? Inquiring minds want to know. ;D

It’s a great and welcoming community. Your unique, interesting, interested, and thoughtful approach, and what looks to be a fab menu, will make you a cornerstone I am certain. Having beer will be good too .

I enjoyed my beef sandwich take-away yesterday.

Looking forward to dropping by for a family dinner with my hungry, hungry offspring. I would want to reserve a table with normal height chairs. Those tall stools intimidate little ole me.

I love the order tags concept and that I got to for a short while be referred to as “Winnie the Pooh”.

Keep up with the reports and best of luck on Saturday!

Congrats Dave. Looking forward to dining at your new restaurant in October when I come down for meetings. Maybe find time for a jog together to work off all the good food. All the best! BC
